Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a working farm? Will we see you around?
Yes indeed. You'll see me and my team throughout your stay. It's a living, breathing farm with a history that goes back nearly three centuries. You may also meet Dylan, our equine specialist, who leads our horse experiences at Rocking T Ranch right here on the property. And keep an eye out for our rescue horses as they move freely across the pastures. There is truly nothing quite like it.
How old is the farm?
Carriage Stone Farm has been home to farmers since 1750. The land holds stories everywhere you look, from original ruins and a spring house to old stone structures and barns that have stood the test of time.
The home you're staying in was built in two parts: the front designed by Baltimore architects in 1810, with additional sections added in 1850. And the best part? It sits tucked away, about half a mile off the road. Quiet, private, and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.
The Carriage Stone Pond
The pond is one of the most beautiful features on the property and is slowly becoming part of the natural ecosystem. Due to its water levels changing throughout the season, we do not stock the pond with fish at this time.
As with any body of water, it comes with inherent risks. Please enjoy it from a safe distance. No swimming, and children should always be supervised nearby. You may also notice lower water levels as this region has experienced significant drought this year, but we are hopeful for a return to normal soon.
Accommodations
The home is designed for gathering, relaxing, and spreading out comfortably. Sleeps up to 12 guests across six beautifully appointed bedrooms:
Main Floor: King Guest Room
Lower Floor: Library with Queen Sofa Bed
Upper Floor: King Suite, King Guest Room, Queen Guest Room, and Twin Bunk Room
Three full bathrooms upstairs with a mix of showers and tubs. The dining room seats up to 16, making it perfect for celebratory meals and gatherings.
A Note on Safety for Little Ones
Kids absolutely thrive here, but like any farm, it comes with real-world elements. Please supervise children at all times around the animals, buildings, and the pond. The historic structures and ruins are beautiful but fragile. For safety, guests should not enter outbuildings, ruins, or fenced areas.
Farm Fresh Goodies 🥚
We'll have some farm favorites waiting for you in the fridge when you arrive: fresh eggs from our ducks and chickens, along with locally sourced bacon or sausage. If you don't eat pork, just let us know ahead of time and we'll make sure you're taken care of.
